It is said that “A healthy diet is a solution to many of our health problems”, so today I will be writing on the nutritional benefits of green leafy vegetables generally, in subsequent times I’ll be posting health benefits of some popular vegetables individually, so stick around.

Green leafy Vegetables are healthy and are abundant in health beneficial components, It is essential to consume Green Leafy Vegetables on a daily basis to maintain the skin, digestive system etc. Various studies have stated that consuming a bowl full of mixed green leafy vegetables can provide nutrients like  Calcium, Iron, Protein, Vitamin A, B and C, minerals etc. that support ones health and help prevent diseases. Some of Nigeria’s Vegetable leaves include pumpkin (Ugu) leaf, waterleaf, Afang leaf, spinach, etc. some of these leaves are used in making vegetable soups and traditional herbal medicines. You can find a huge variety of edible green leafy vegetables in the market ranging from dark to pleasant green colour.

Soup is an important dish of every meal. Consuming a bowl of soup on daily basis have a lot of health benefits. Vegetable soup is mostly consumed in Nigeria by different tribes and culture and these soups are said to be hearty and healthy. With very few ingredients, one can make a bowl of soup and enjoy when served hot or cold, but just in case you don’t have time to visit the kitchen, we’ve got you covered…smiles.
